After creating the Frequency Album, the Monosapiens & Conscious Route return with the frequency remixes. The first remix is brought to you by Rik Mono from the Monosapiens, the release also includes guest production on the other three songs by Audiosyncracy, Blind Digital and Synct. The release brings a diverse range of electronic styles of music.

Monosapiens are Rik & Simon Arbuthnot, they started in 2001. Between them they play guitar, bass, drums, percussion, keyboards, samplers, and whatever else they can find lying around to make a noise with!

Conscious Route is the front man for this project, originally from England (between Cambridge and London), he started out Mossman Skank, later abbreviating his name to Mosman. He is a founder member of now dispersed hip hop crew Fugaizrum, who later became a cross-over Hip Hop and Blues band. He started to write hip hop in 1998, being influenced by names like Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, Wu Tang Clan, Roots Manuva, Black Twang, Task Force, Terra Firma, Triple Darkness, Dr John, Eek-A-Mouse, Michael Franti, and Bob Dylan, which in turn all shaped his flow.

When one first listens to the pair, Ghost One and Coopz, spittin’ to those Dr. G instrumentals; you can just feel something special is about to ensue. For some, it is nostalgic going back in time to the Golden Era when Boom Bap was at the forefront of Hip Hop. For others, it is something brand new, aggressive lyricism shot out the gun of harsh reality with numerology and symbolism crafted into the ammunition that is used in a battle against the mainstream (spiritual vs. robotic).

Most artists live life and talk about all their experiences through their music. A true Hip Hop artist takes that aspect and puts it on their shoulders to explain their observations in a poetic manner. Often times, they are standing outside the world and looking into it (through a magnified glass, so to speak).

In the UK, storytellin’-wise, it is no different. The only thing in the UK that is visibly different, Hip Hop has remained in the underground. Untainted by the clutches of the mainstream music industry, it is able to stay more pure to it’s roots.

Shakezpeare is a Coventry rapper who has been consistently releasing music for the last few years. His raw, undiluted sound has led to him gaining support in all corners of the UK as well as Europe and USA. He has featured on tracks alongside Rap P from New York, Genesis Elijah, Novar FLIP, as well as working with Dr. G on his forthcoming album ‘Problem Child Grown Up’.

He has shared stages with the likes of Skinnyman, Tony D, P Money, Malik MD7, Reveal, Wordsmiff, Redbeard and many more, as well as touring with Wu Tang and Wisemen rapper/producer Bronze Nazareth and Detroit’s Rocknrollaz. Shakezpeare always delivers an electric performance and in 2016 has already been chosen as an official support act for Killah Priest’s UK tour in May. As well as being a respected solo artist Shakezpeare runs Snakeyez TV, a media channel that supports underground music with freestyles, interviews and music videos.

Shakezpeare is currently working with the talented UK producer Roll Blunt and Wu/Wisemen’s Bronze Nazareth on a forthcoming project, as well as being an official support act for Killah Priest’s 2016 UK Tour.

In its original form, “Hidden Darkness” by Chicago duo RedAir is a creeping, eccentric track that’s equally as menacing as it is catchy, as it teeters on the edge of madness. And in the hands of J57, the track retains its chilling elements while being injected with absolutely hypnotizing percussion.

The backbone of “Hidden Darkness” is apparent as soon as this remix begins. RedAir producer Rediculus’ dark instrumental looms overhead while singer-songwriter Airon Azure’s message of finding truth in the darkness remains clear. However, J57 flipped it into something even more experimental with his combination of speaker-punishing drums and smoky atmospherics. But what’s most impressive is that the Brooklyn-residing artist was able to piece this together in the midst of recording two ill new projects, one with Juan Deuce and the other with Koncept.
